Honor Magic8 Pro and Magic8 debut with AI Button, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC

Honor has officially unveiled the new Magic8 and Magic8 Pro in China. The latest flagship phones from Honor offer several new upgrades, including a new AI button. Both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.

The Honor Magic8 Pro offers a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP telephoto unit that uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor with an f/2.6 aperture lens. It supports 3.7x optical zoom and OIS. There’s a 50MP primary camera with an 1/1.3-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and OIS. Lastly, the camera setup also features a 50MP ultrawide camera that offers 122 degree FOV.

Over at the front, the phone sports a 6.71-inch OLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1256 x 2808 pixels resolution, and 6,000 nits of peak brightness. You get a 50MP front camera and a 3D depth camera for face unlock. Honor has included a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as well.

The Magic8 Pro packs a 7,200mAh Si-C battery in China, however the EU version features a smaller 6,270mAh cell. It supports up to 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

The phone runs MagicOS 10 and offers several AI features and the Yoyo agent. The included AI button is customisable and lets you access the AI assistant with a long-press as well as perform other actions.

The Magic8 Pro offers an IP68/IP69/IP69K rating and is available in Sunrise Gold, Sky Cyan, and Black colors. It measures 8.4mm thick and weighs 213g.

The base Magic8 is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and comes with a smaller 6.58-inch OLED LTPO display with similar specs as the Pro variant. You also get the AI button and the Yoyo assistant.

At the back, the phone features a 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, it gets a 50MP camera on the front.

What you don’t get is the 3D depth camera for biometrics. Although, the phone does offer an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The Honor Magic8 houses a 7,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 80W wireless charging support. It is available in Sunrise Gold, Sky Cyan, and Black color options as well.

Both Magic8 series phones are available for pre-order in China with first sale set to begin on October 23. The base model starts at CNY 4,499 ($630) for the 12GB/256GB variant. The 12GB/512GB option is priced at 4,799 ($670) and the 16GB/512GB model will cost you 4,999 ($700). Lastly, the 16GB/1TB option can be yours for CNY 5,499 ($770).

Meanwhile, the Magic8 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 5,699 ($800). The phone is also available in a 12GB/512GB variant that costs CNY 5,999 ($840), a 16GB/512GB option that’s CNY 6,199 ($870), and a 16GB/1TB option that’ll set you back by CNY 6,699 ($940).
