TheSwitch 2continues to be a very successful product for Nintendo. Followingover 3.5 million units soldin the first week, Nintendo has now announced that it's sold 5.82 million units by the end of June.
That'salmost a full monthof availability, and the number is more than double what the original Switch managed in its first month on the market - 2.7 million units sold.
Nintendo says demand for the Switch 2 is still exceeding supply "in many countries", and regrets the inconvenience this is causing. It's promised to increase production to match demand everywhere. The Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling game console of all time.
The Switch 2's success has driven a 132% rise in quarterly revenue for Nintendo in Q2 (April to June), up to $3.8 billion, compared to Q2 2024 (around $1.6 billion). The company is forecasting 15 million Switch 2 units sold by the end of March next year.
It remains to be seen how US tariffs may or may not impact that, as the Trump administration has just announced a 20% tariff on imports from Vietnam, where the Switch 2 is manufactured (up from 10% before).
